Sahara Apartments is an apartment building designed to serve the students attending the University of Arizona (UA) , Pima Community College (PCC), and other local two and four year colleges in Tucson, Arizona.
At the Sahara, our emphasis is on safety and security of our residents as well as on maintaining a quiet, “no party” environment. Our focus on the above elements, combined with our long list of on-site amenities, makes the Sahara an ideal home for those students who are serious about their studies, but also wish to have access to opportunities for social activities with their fellow students, a range of on-site recreational facilities, and the benefits of our “self contained student community” concept.
We call it a "Self Contained" community because we provide you with everything you need to live comfortably and hassle free. Let's look at everything that is included with your rent at the Sahara.
You get free utilities with your rent payment, free high speed internet connections, and free access to our 30 channel satellite TV system. There is a laundry room on every floor, and we have an on-site café, mini market and pizza parlor with delivery service, a meeting room equipped for lectures or presentations, on-site computer troubleshooting and repair services which also offers cell phone sales and services. We have a study room equipped with terminal stations providing high speed internet connections, and access to all modules of Microsoft Office software.
You can print, copy, and scan documents, as well as send and receive faxes, all at less cost than commercial copy services charge, and even less than these services cost on campus.
If you live at the Sahara, you can walk to campus, in less than 20 minutes, bike to campus in less than 7 minutes using a bike we will give you to use for FREE while you live at the Sahara, or you can take a free ride on our shuttle van to and from the campus.
You can exercise in our gym that features the latest in exercise equipment, socialize with your friends in our student lounge area, play games in our game room, or use our mini movie theater that can seat you and 23 of your friends, to watch your own DVD movie, or select one of the 250 channels available in our movie theater's satellite TV system, including numerous movie channels, and special sports packages like "NFL Sunday Ticket", and you can enjoy the 103" screen, and our High Definition (HD) projector with our 5.1 surround sound system.
We have a beautifully landscaped interior courtyard with a swimming pool, and a whirlpool, all inside a secure building with 80 security cameras watching out for your safety and recording on a 24/7/365 basis, while our infrared perimeter beam system protects you from the outside world and unauthorized access to the inner sanctum of our community. We offer 123 dormitory style, double occupancy studio apartments with private baths and kitchens with full sized appliances. Through our roommate matching services, we can match you up with a compatible roommate, or you can apply along with your own pre-selected roommate. In either case, you will only be responsible for payment of your own rent, while your roommate will have his or her own separate lease.
We also have 16 single occupancy apartments, 9 of which are ADA compliant. In addition, we have 3 luxury, one bedroom apartments, and 1 two bedroom apartment which are also designed to be shared by two or three students.
Even though our studio apartments have private bathrooms and full kitchens with full sized appliances, which are not offered by the on-campus Residence Halls, our rates, are lower than the rates for the Residence Halls on the UofA campus.
